What is a Home Sleep Test?
A Home Sleep Test is a convenient way to assess your sleep and breathing while you sleep in your own home. The test records relevant sleep-related information which is then reviewed to help identify signs that may be consistent with sleep-disordered breathing, including obstructive sleep apnoea.

Which device is used for the test?
The test is carried out using the AcuPebble SA100 by Acurable. It is a compact home sleep testing device designed to collect sleep-related respiratory information while you sleep at home.

Do I need to visit a clinic?
No. The test is designed to be completed at home. The testing device is sent to you together with the information required to complete your test.

How many nights do I need to use the device?
Our standard Home Sleep Test includes one night of testing. Follow the instructions provided to ensure sufficient data is collected during the night.

What happens after I order?
After your order is placed, the information required to arrange your assessment will be securely shared with our specialist service partner. You will be contacted with a questionnaire and instructions explaining the next steps.

Who reviews my sleep test results?
Your test data is reviewed by an appropriately qualified sleep specialist. A report is then prepared based on the information collected during your home sleep assessment.

Will I receive a copy of my report?
Yes. Once your test has been completed and reviewed, you will receive your sleep test report electronically.

How much does the Home Sleep Test cost?
The one-night Home Sleep Test costs £185. An optional specialist consultation following your test is available for an additional £50.

What is included in the optional specialist consultation?
The consultation gives you an opportunity to discuss your results with a sleep specialist, understand the findings and discuss appropriate next steps based on your individual results.

Can the test diagnose sleep apnoea?
The test provides clinical information that can help a qualified healthcare professional assess for sleep apnoea and other sleep-related breathing abnormalities. Your report should be interpreted in the context of your symptoms and medical history.

What happens if my results suggest I may benefit from CPAP therapy?
If your assessment indicates that CPAP therapy may be appropriate, the specialist can discuss the findings and recommended next steps with you. Any treatment should be based on an appropriate clinical assessment and recommendation.

Do I need a GP referral to order the test?
A GP referral is generally not required to purchase our private Home Sleep Test. You will, however, be asked to provide relevant information through a questionnaire so the assessment can be carried out appropriately.

Will the results automatically appear on my NHS medical record?
No. This is a private sleep testing service and the results are not automatically added to your NHS GP record. You may choose to share your report with your GP or another healthcare professional.

Is the test painful or invasive?
The AcuPebble SA100 is designed for home use and does not require an overnight stay in a sleep clinic. You will receive instructions explaining how to correctly position and use the device.

What happens if there is not enough data from my test?
If the recording does not contain sufficient usable information, the specialist/service provider will advise you about the appropriate next steps.

Can I take the test if I already use a CPAP machine?
If you are already receiving CPAP or another form of treatment for a diagnosed sleep condition, we recommend discussing the purpose of the test with the specialist before making changes to your existing treatment.

Is my personal and health information kept confidential?
Yes. Information required to provide the service is handled securely. By ordering the Home Sleep Test, you consent to the necessary information being shared with the specialist service partner responsible for arranging, reviewing and reporting your assessment.

Is this service suitable for an emergency or urgent medical problem?
No. A Home Sleep Test is not an emergency medical service. If you have severe or rapidly worsening symptoms, significant breathing difficulties, chest pain or another medical emergency, seek appropriate urgent medical assistance.
