FAQs

The ResMed AirFit X30i is a hybrid full face CPAP mask for sleep apnea therapy. A soft oral cushion seals around the mouth, and nasal pillows rest at the nostrils. You get the mouth coverage of a full face mask without a large cushion over your nose. The tube connects at the top of your head, so the hose stays out of the way when you turn over.

Why choose the AirFit X30i

  • Dual-seal hybrid design – nasal pillows plus an oral cushion, so mouth breathing is covered.
  • Nothing on the nose bridge – no forehead bar and no cushion across the bridge, a common source of red marks.
  • Top-of-the-head tube – a 360° swivel elbow keeps the hose clear in any sleeping position.
  • SpringFit hollow frame – flexes with your movement and carries the air through the frame to the cushions.
  • QuietAir venting – diffuses exhaled air quietly, for you and whoever is next to you.
  • Magnetic headgear clips – easy to fit and remove in the dark.
  • Plush rolled-edge headgear – designed to be worn loosely, so it holds a seal without pressure marks.
  • Open field of view – read, watch television or wear glasses right up to lights out.

ResMed reports that 96% of surveyed CPAP users found the AirFit X30i easy to fit and adjust for comfort and a reliable seal.

How the hybrid seal works

Most full face masks form one large seal across the nose and mouth. The X30i forms two smaller ones instead: the nasal pillows sit just inside the nostrils, and the oral cushion seals around the mouth below them. Splitting the seal means the mask can be far smaller than a conventional full face mask while still delivering therapy if you breathe through your mouth.

AirFit X30i vs F30i vs F40

AirFit X30i AirFit F30i AirFit F40
Seal type Nasal pillows + oral cushion Single under-nose cushion Single under-nose cushion
Tube connection Top of the head Top of the head Front of mask
Nose bridge contact None None None
Best for Mouth breathers who like nasal pillows Active sleepers, tube drag Smallest, most discreet fit

If you have used nasal pillows before and liked them but had to move to a full face mask because of mouth leak, the X30i is designed for exactly that situation.

Choosing your AirFit X30i FitPack

The X30i is supplied as a FitPack, sized by frame. Each pack contains the frame and the nasal pillow cushions that go with it:

  • Small FitPack – Small frame, with Small and Medium nasal pillow cushions
  • Standard FitPack – Standard frame, with Small, Medium and Large nasal pillow cushions
  • Large FitPack – Large frame, with Small, Medium and Large nasal pillow cushions

The frame size is set by the distance from the bridge of your nose to the top of your head, not by the size of your nose. If you are unsure which frame size you need, contact us before ordering and we will help you work it out.

Frequently asked questions

Is the AirFit X30i a full face mask or a nasal pillow mask?

Both. It is a hybrid: the nasal pillows seal at the nostrils and the oral cushion seals around the mouth. Because it covers the mouth, it delivers therapy whether you breathe through your nose, your mouth or both, so set your machine's mask type to "Full Face".

How is it different from the AirFit F30i?

Both connect the tube at the top of the head and neither touches the bridge of the nose. The F30i uses one cushion that sits under the nose and around the mouth. The X30i uses nasal pillows inside the nostrils plus a separate oral cushion, which suits people who prefer the feel of nasal pillows.

Do the nasal pillows go inside my nose?

They rest at the nostril openings rather than being inserted into the nose. They should sit against the rim of the nostril and not press up inside it.

Will the AirFit X30i work with my CPAP machine?

Yes. It uses a standard mask connection and works with ResMed, Philips, Löwenstein and other CPAP and bilevel machines.

Similarly, certain accessories, batteries or specialist products may have different warranty periods. Where this is the case, the applicable warranty will be clearly stated on the relevant product page.

This has been the most comfortable mask so far in 3 months of begging treatment. Best for my side sleeping in conjunction with a CPAP pillow. Came with 3 sizes of nostril inserts- soft and comfortable. Not cheap but better sleep worth it😴

Yes. The AirFit X30i uses magnetic headgear clips. ResMed advises that masks with magnets are contraindicated for people with certain implants, including pacemakers, implantable defibrillators, neurostimulators, shunts, insulin pumps, aneurysm clips and stents, and for people in close physical contact with someone who has one.

ResMed advises keeping the mask magnets at least 150 mm (6 inches) from any device that may be affected. If you are unsure whether this applies to you, speak to your doctor and to the manufacturer of your implant before ordering.
