FAQs

The ResMed AirFit N20 is ResMed's most widely fitted nasal mask. Its InfinitySeal cushion is designed to suit a very wide range of facial contours, and the frame is padded where it meets your skin rather than being bare plastic — which is why it is the nasal mask most often supplied to new CPAP users.

The frame sits below the eyes for an open field of vision, so you can read, watch television or wear glasses right up until you fall asleep.

Key features

  • InfinitySeal silicone cushion – a thin, flexible sealing edge that follows the contours of your face as you move.
  • Soft padded frame – integrated padding where the frame rests on your skin.
  • Magnetic headgear clips – guide themselves into the frame, so the mask goes on one-handed and in the dark.
  • Quick-release elbow – disconnect from the tubing without taking the mask off.
  • Open field of vision – low-profile frame with no forehead support.
  • Four-point headgear adjustment – holds its setting once adjusted.
  • Three cushion sizes – Small, Medium and Large, all held in stock.
  • Genuine ResMed product, supplied complete with headgear.

Is a nasal mask right for me?

A nasal mask delivers air through the nose only, so it suits you if you breathe through your nose during sleep. Compared with a full face mask it is smaller, lighter and less intrusive, and most people find it easier to get used to.

It is less suitable if your mouth falls open at night or your nose is frequently blocked. A chin strap resolves mild mouth leak for many people; if it persists, a full face mask such as the AirFit F20 is the better answer.

AirFit N20, AirTouch N20 or AirFit N30i?

Cushion InfinitySeal silicone UltraSoft memory foam Silicone nasal cradle
Covers the nose Over the nose Over the nose Under the nose

Best for Most users Sensitive skin, red marks Active sleepers, hose drag

The AirTouch N20 shares this mask's frame and headgear, so if silicone marks your skin you can buy just the memory foam cushion rather than a whole new mask.

Choosing your size

The AirFit N20 is sized by cushion only — the frame and headgear are one size. Medium fits the majority of adults.

  • Small – narrower nose, shorter bridge
  • Medium – the most commonly fitted size
  • Large – broader nose, longer bridge

The cushion should sit around the nose without pressing on the nostrils or riding up into the eye area. If you already use an AirTouch N20, order the same size — they match exactly. Contact us if you are between sizes.

Important: this mask contains magnets

The AirFit N20 uses magnetic headgear clips. ResMed advises that masks with magnets are contraindicated for people with certain implants — including pacemakers, implantable defibrillators, neurostimulators, shunts, insulin pumps, aneurysm clips, stents, metallic ocular implants and metallic splinters in the eye — and for people in close physical contact with someone who has one.

If you need a magnet-free nasal mask, the AirFit N30i uses conventional clips and contains no magnets. Please speak to your doctor if you are unsure whether the warning applies to you.

Replacement parts

Cushions, headgear, frames, elbows and magnetic clips are all available separately. As a general guide, replace the cushion every one to three months and the headgear every three to six months — facial oils soften the silicone and cause leaks well before the cushion looks worn.

Frequently asked questions

Which size AirFit N20 should I order?

Medium fits most adults. The cushion should surround the nose without pressing into the nostrils or riding up towards the eyes. Sizing matches the AirTouch N20 exactly.

Can I use a memory foam cushion on this mask?

Yes. The AirTouch N20 memory foam cushion fits the AirFit N20 frame, so if silicone leaves marks on your skin you only need the cushion, not a new mask.

What if I breathe through my mouth?

Air will escape and reduce the effectiveness of therapy. A chin strap fixes mild mouth leak for many people. If it continues, a full face mask such as the AirFit F20 is the better option.

Does the AirFit N20 contain magnets?

Yes, in the headgear clips. If magnets are contraindicated for you, the AirFit N30i is a magnet-free nasal alternative.

Will it work with my CPAP machine?

Yes. It uses a standard mask connection and works with ResMed, Philips, Löwenstein and other CPAP and bilevel devices. Set your machine's mask type to "Nasal".

Can I use it with the AirMini?

Yes, with the AirMini N20 setup pack, which we stock separately.

How do I clean it?

Wash the cushion daily in warm water with a mild liquid soap, and the headgear and frame weekly. Rinse thoroughly and air dry away from direct sunlight. Do not use bleach, alcohol, or scented or antibacterial cleaners.

Do I need a prescription?

No prescription is required to order the AirFit N20 from CPAPstudio.

Please read the current ResMed AirFit N20 user guide, including contraindications, warnings and precautions, before using this mask.

For example, if a particular CPAP machine is advertised with a 3-year warranty, that 3-year warranty will apply instead of the general 2-year period shown above.

Similarly, certain accessories, batteries or specialist products may have different warranty periods. Where this is the case, the applicable warranty will be clearly stated on the relevant product page.

Perfect for side sleepers and those who read before bed.

The AirFit N20 has an InfinitySeal silicone cushion that sits over the nose, with the tube at the front and magnetic clips. The AirTouch N20 is the same mask with an UltraSoft memory foam cushion, which suits sensitive skin or red marks, and it shares the N20 frame and headgear. The AirFit N30i uses a silicone nasal cradle that sits under the nose, with the tube at the top of the head and no magnets, and it suits active sleepers bothered by hose drag.

The AirFit N20 frame with padding, an InfinitySeal silicone cushion in the size you select, adjustable headgear, a quick-release elbow, two magnetic headgear clips and a user guide.

As a general guide, replace the cushion every one to three months and the headgear every three to six months. Facial oils soften the silicone and cause leaks well before the cushion looks worn. Cushions, headgear, frames, elbows and magnetic clips are all available separately.
